Low price specification for a Simple funeral held at the Crematorium only

The total funeral cost will consist of two separate areas: funeral directors' charges and disbursements. Together they make up the total cost of the funeral.

Disbursements are fees and charges made by a third party, such as minister's fees, doctor's fees and crematorium or cemetery charges etc.

  Funeral director's charges — £950.00 (for Simple funeral only)

This includes ...

  • Making funeral arrangements with the family or person responsible within 20 miles of the chapel of rest during normal working hours. All professional services are included such as, liaising with a minister, doctors, hospitals, cemeteries and/or crematorium, coroner etc.

  • Essentially the arrangements will cover the removal of the deceased to the chapel of rest during normal working hours and within a 20 mile radius; and care and attendance of the deceased prior to the funeral. Viewing of the deceased can also be arranged by appointment during normal working hours.

  • A purpose-built hearse to take the deceased to the cemetery or crematorium for the funeral service (not more than 20 miles). In some circumstances the relatives may request that the hearse and the coffin leave from outside the deceased's home address before the cortege proceeds to its final destination. Where a cremation is arranged the cremated remains will be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance at no additional cost unless the relatives request otherwise.

  • Providing a simple coffin with handles, name plate and coffin closures. The interior of the coffin will be lined and a quality gown or shroud will be provided. (Relatives may provide clothing if they feel it is appropriate). Other coffins are available at an additional cost.

  • All arrangements will be discussed with the family/executor, and agreed with the minister taking the service, and with the crematorium or cemetery. Contact will be made with any charity that may receive donations in lieu of flowers.

For many people the service they will want will vary slightly from the one published here on www.funeralsearch.co.uk. Any alterations can be accommodated, but extra charges may be incurred. These will be explained by the funeral director and a written estimate must be accepted by the person responsible before the funeral director will proceed with the funeral arrangements.

  Disbursements

These must be paid prior to the funeral taking place

All funerals involve some degree of service provision over and above the funeral director's charges. These services are called disbursements and usually consist of the following. (All prices are approximate) ...

  • Announcements in newspapers (depends on the number and cost of lines and the newspaper concerned) — £100.00 to £175.00;

  • Cremation fee — £500.00 approx - charges vary throughout the UK;

  • Doctors' fees for cremation — £142.00 (Two doctors will require a fee of £71.00 each for completing statutory forms for cremation when the coroner is not involved);

  • Minister's fee;

  • Flowers;

  • Cemetery charges (these vary immensely and consist of numerous combinations depending upon circumstances).

IMPORTANT: The prices shown here on this website are for the lowest priced funeral possible. Unfortunately funeral directors cannot provide a credit facility for services they do not provide themselves. All disbursements paid to third parties including crematorium fees, doctor's fees, newspaper obituaries and acknowledgements, florist's charges, minister's fees, etc. must be paid for prior to the publication of any announcement in a newspaper or the day of the funeral, whichever comes first. If the disbursements cannot be paid for prior to the funeral, the person responsible for arrangements must satisfy the funeral director that payment will be made by some other means, such as insurance policies, employer, DSS grant, or other relatives. Payment can be made using credit cards, debit cards and Switch.
